Blurry... but as good as it gets!
Big smiles which comes after her feeds. I love how she smiles with her eyes and how her cheeks are so chubby they are bigger than her head!

Where did Ashton go?

Ashton was throwing a temper tantrum which I did not catch but for some reason he kept asking "Where did Ashton go?" I have no idea what he meant. Plus he shows off what to do during timeouts! Must have perfected his timeout routine.

More adventures outside

Not really adventures but Violet and Ashton enjoying the outdoors of our desperate in need of a makeover backyard.

Playing outside

Fresno had (HAD being the keyword) usually nice weather last week which prompted me to invest in a water table. Ashton enjoyed taking the water out of the table and pouring it out on his car or the dirt.

Let the Potty Training Begin!

Whoo hoo! Ashton has peed on his froggy potty twice! Both times I put him on his froggy before bath time and to my surprise... he went!! The 1st time he said "Uh oh" and I jumped up and down with excitement so he knew it wasn't an uh oh. The 2nd time he said "all done" and of course, I say no your not. But when I looked he had gone! So I picked him up and ran him downstairs to grab a mini Reese's peanut butter cup to reward him! Whoo hoo! Let the potty training begin!

Happy Father's Day

We spent the day at my Uncle Eddie's house and enjoyed a great BBQ and a day of swimming! It is so nice being around family again. We were able to enjoy a lazy day, then enjoy a BBQ, topped off with a night with my parents! Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband and father to my children!

Developmental Update

Ashton is now 20 months and has somehow transitioned from a baby to an official toddler.

He had his 18 month well baby visit and weighed in at a hefty 23 pounds. Poor little guy. He is still a pretty good eater and LOVES his junk food. He always wants "num num" which is basically anything sweet. He loves Reese's peanut butter cups and M&Ms (my savior to making it through a shopping trip at Target). His ear tubes are already out... bummer! And has already had his 1st post-ear tubes ear infection. That was back in April so we'll see how we make it through the fall/winter time and decide then if we need another set of tubes. Good news is that his speech continues to improve. He is up to 3-word phrases and he is such a copy cat. He copies everything we say and even our hand motions that go along with it. He is so smart. He can associate pictures with toys and the real thing. I showed him a picture of a dump truck and later that morning he was able to tell me his truck was a dump truck. He knows the sign up on his wall says Ashton. And surprising to me, he pointed to mail truck in a book and said mailman. The mail truck didn't even have the USPS logo. That astonished me! He can see a "mail mam" a mile away. He continues to be 100% boy. He loves cars, especially the Cars movie, trucks, tractors, fire trucks (kire-trucks), garbage trucks, and basically anything with wheels. He still climbs everything. His feet are rarely on the floor itself and if they are he is running. He loves to push buttons, especially one that makes noise (ie the door bell). His favorite activity is coloring, especially with markers. Thankfully, Crayola has created special markers that only color on special paper. Thanks to my Mom for discovering that! He still loves books and will have you read every book he has before bedtime if you let him. He loves to watch TV and movies. He is addicted to youtube - my bad! He absolutely loves to watch himself on "TV." He is starting to show interest in what he wears... uh oh. He has had 12 teeth for a long time and is finally getting his 2 canine teeth. He is still resistant to teeth brushing but we can get it done at least once a day. And exciting for me... he is telling me when he poops! After the fact, but at least he can tell me. So, let the potty training begin. We have pull-ups but he's not interested and still has interested and disinterested days to sit on the potty but I'm going to try! Everyone says he's still too young but I'm tired of all these diapers! He is still attached at my side but can be so helpful when he wants to be. He loves to throw things in the trash. And will occasionally clean up his mess while saying "clean clean." And what has officially transitioned him into toddlerhood? Oh those wonderful tantrums! He will lay down on the floor and kick and cry (thankfully it's not a scream) but oh those tantrums.

Violet is now 2 months old and is doing everything a 2 month old does. She smiles... big and wide with her eyes. It's adorable. And she coos and almost laughs but sounds more like a squeal. She will occasionally fall asleep on his own while watching the soother but much prefers to be held. She is going through that "I don't want to be put down" stage. Yeah, that's fun with Ashton who is attached at my side!

Comparing the kids

I think they look alike! Wow!

A weekend on the coast

Ashton playing around at my cousin's graduation. Congratulations Alex!
Just playing around in the backyard of my grandma's house. We enjoyed the weather in Santa Maria.
Cowboy Ashton!
We even had time to visit the Avila farm! Ashton enjoyed feeding the animals. And Mom enjoyed the homemade ice cream! Yum!

cheeseburger!.avi

So Ashton went from saying "cheese" to "cheeseburgers." Well, I thought he was saying cheeseburgers while we were in the car but now that I watch the video I figured out he was saying cheese boogers (as indicated when he picks his nose)! How hilarious!

violet smiles.avi

Violet has such big smiles that light up her eyes! I can't believe she is almost 2 months old and I have very few pictures of her smiling. I'm quite sure I have tons of Ashton at 2 months but it's difficult to watch a baby with a camera while Ashton is stomping around. At least I have some video of her!

Up in the Tree

Cheese!
Ashton has been asking to get up in the tree in our front yard for awhile. I finally had Matt hoist Ashton up there and caught some cute pics. On a good note.. I think some of his daredevilness is leaving. Matt told him to jump (into his arms) and he said NO! Good for you Ashton!

How to burn off some energy

This is how to burn off the energy of a 20 month old without losing your own precious energy!
