5 weeks and growing
Well, here we are 1 month and 1 week into Ashton's life. We are settling into a routine and I am slowing getting to know what Ashton wants. My biggest accomplishment so far is getting his to sleep in his crib. He still protests for about 30 minutes but I just keep on going in his room, stick his pacifier in his mouth, and walk out. Eventually he realizes he is tired and needs a nap! His biggest accomplishment is being able to go 4 hours between feeds at night! He also is very portable with us when we go out. Our social outings have included a Halloween party and numerous lunches and dinners! He has done quite well, actually he is much better in public. Everyone thinks he is a perfect angel!

My big accomplishment!

This will make you smile!
I'm smiling today too! Ashton (for the most part) has behaved quite well today. It actually started last night. We went to a villains (Ashton was a little devil) Halloween party last night and he performed like an angel! He slept in everyone's arms and only got upset when he was hungry. He went right back to sleeping in all our friend's arms. We got home, he ate, and after trying to fall asleep in the crib, he slept on Matt's chest for 4 hours!!! Yeah for me! We accepted the fact that it was already a good night and resolved to feed Ashton in bed and catch a couple extra hours of sleep. My big accomplishment for today... I got Ashton to sleep in his crib for his naps! But wait, there's more... I put him in his crib while he was semi-awake! Yeah for me again! Hopefully our little devil will be a little angel tonight again!

Happy 1 month old Birthday!
I can't believe Ashton is already 1 month old! He has ups and down days leaving me exhausted and wishing that nights were for sleeping again! He is growing so fast. I can't wait until our next doctor's appointment so I can see how big he is getting. He should be at least 8 pounds by now based on my estimates. The last week was great. My mom was here to take all his crying fits. She even took a 5am crying fit! Thanks Mom!!! Today we went through 2 crying fits but were rewarded with 2 good periods and 1 good nap. Our one month old present... Dad's first bottle feeding! This was Ashton's second bottle. His 1st one with with my Mom on our first dinner date away from Ashton. He did great!

Smiling and cooing!
Yesterday I swear Ashton smiled twice and cooed too! Of course I wasn't able to catch it on camera, but once we do I promise to post pictures! It was so cute! We were playing our jumping game... he always pushes on our stomachs so when he does that we make him jump! We have to build up those nice strong Tomate/Besmer gene legs which right now are quite twiggy. Anyways, when we were jumping he started out with a little smirk which turned into a smile! Promise! And then he cooed!

Grandma's here!
Yeah! Grandma is here to help! She took his 5am fussiness this morning! Yeah me! I think Ashton has gas! We have resulted to using Mylicon drops. Not sure if it's really working or if he is just (gasp) colicky! He is sitting here with me in the Baby Bjorn! He cries every time we try to put him down. So if anyone has any suggestions... I'd love to hear them! Swaddling will get him down, but doesn't keep him asleep for very long. He will be peaceful, then all of sudden cry out loud, and start kicking his legs... which wakes him up!
Grandma and Ashton bonding!
Parker and Ashton bonding!
Looks like he's smiling!
Getting some vitamin D! Plus we gave him vitamins for the 1st time yesterday! I think half of it ended up on him or me though!

Doctor's appointment
We had our 2nd doctor's appointment today and Ashton weighs in at a hefty 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measures a lengthy 20 1/4 inches. That's a weight gain of 1 pound, 2 ounces and growth of 1 1/2 inches in just 12 days! I knew he was getting bigger just by how his clothes are fitting. His little legs actually almost fit to the bottom of the footsies now! He was so alert this morning and performed nicely for our doctor.
