27 more days!

Wow! I am down to a daily countdown until baby girl Besmer joins us... at the most! The answer to the question I always get asked, "How are you feeling?" I am feeling fine. I often think the baby has dropped. She likes to kick and snuggle up closely to my bladder.

The closer it gets, the more nervous I get about having two kids under two years old. I wonder how Ashton will act towards a new baby and his Mommy being pulled in two directions. He is such a good kid but oh so attached to his Mommy. He is 100% boy and loves climbing and jumping and getting dirty. He is so much fun these days. He is learning to talk more and more and is even putting small phrases together. His favorites are "Is it ____?" or "It's a _____."  He loves to color and has figured out how to use stickers. He has discovered candy and cookies. I have resorted to bribes in public. His favorites include monkeys, Elmo, and airplanes. He will watch tv for close to 30 minutes with his favorites being Elmo (of course) and Curious George. He is a smart kid and will say the animal noises before the movie. He identifies and can remember his Nana and Gampa and Ma-mah and Papa. And he's decided to jump out of his crib so we have made the transition out of the crib. He now sleeps on the crib mattress of the floor. Hopefully I can get his room done before the baby comes so he can transition to his big boy room and bed! After his room is done, I can move onto the baby's room turning everything into shades of pink! I hoped to create a room of purple and green but I never realized how hard it is to find purple! Everything baby girl is pink! Wow! I can't believe all the baby stages will begin all over again!

Baby shower for Baby Besmer #2

Thanks to the hosts of the baby shower - Jenn, Tryna, and Nina Lucy! Someone I missed getting a picture of Nina Lucy! I'm sure there will be plenty in the future with the rug rats!
And what's a baby shower without games?!
The boys chugging the bottles! A different kind of bottle than they are used to?!

A Spring day at Woodward Park

A view of the trail to the park. Matt decided to walk an 8 month pregnant lady and his 18 month old son who no longer likes riding in strollers 1 1/2 miles to the park. It was a pretty walk but not much fun for the pregnant lady whose baby stomped on her bladder halfway there!

Spring in California

It was a beautiful Sunday so I took Ashton for a walk through Woodward Park. Unfortunately, he did not feel like rollling in the stroller so I let him out. Big mistake as he did not want to get back in!

Messy eater!

I love pasta!
Reaching for more pasta in the very corner
All done Mom!
Yum Yum
Just being a silly boy!

Ashton's favorite activity

Ashton LOVES to be read to. He will bring you tons of books, sit in your lap, and listen. This is Dr. Seuss' book, "Go Dogs Go." I wonder if his love for books will carry into his teenage years??

Ashton and his dog

Ashton looks at the "wa-wre." Translation: water (otherwise known as Woodward Lake)
Ashton only wanted to walk Parker on the leash
Don't let that little grin fool you!
It was finally too overwhelming for me to keep Ashton and Parker on the sidewalk and out of the street. I had to seatbelt Ashton in to keep him from climbing out of the car. Thankfully Parker tolerated Ashton well!

Ashton and Parker Going for a Walk

After a weekend full of walks with Nana Dee and Grandma, Ashton and Parker feel holed up inside after we get home for work. So I was brave enough to take them both for a quick walk. I quickly discovered that it was too difficult and headed back in a heartbeat. Ashton only wanted to actually walk Parker and Parker wanted to sniff out everything. After Ashton climbed out of his car, I had to seatbelt him in and hand him Parker's leash. Thank goodness I have a good dog!!

Rain Rain Go Away

It has rained quite a bit over the past week. Fortunately, we had a few breaks and some chances to test out Ashton's rain boots! He loves them! It's so hilarious! I hope we get more use out of them!

And what's a boy without some mud?! Yuck!

Eating yogurt!

This is what happens when I have to cook dinner while Ashton is hungry. I let him go at it himself on eating some yogurt and a bagel!
I love that it's all over his face!
He actually did take an attempt using the spoon! What a great developmental step!

Ashton loves Parker

Don't you just love the devilish grin!
Poor Parker... he's so nervous!
My first flower from Ashton. Well, "Ma-mah" Besmer tried to collect a bouquet on their walk Saturday morning but no flowers successfully made it intact. Nana Dee was able to successful collect one!

Ashton has discovered stickers

Looks like someone got a little carried away with the stickers. Can't remember if it was Ashton or his Nana Dee!
I miss the days when Ashton used to smile for the camera. Now I get the "what" look.

32 week thoughts!

I just went back to the blog when I was 32 weeks pregnant with Ashton. It seems like everything is right on mark. I had the same tingling sensation back then as I do now. Back then I attributed it to the baby in my ribs, but I think it is heartburn. I have reached the uncomfortable, I can not pop my back stage which is really annoying. I am waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Thanks to the baby snuggled up nice and close to my bladder. And Ashton thinks I am just a bag full of balls!! Every once in awhile, he will actually point to my belly and say baby. I have to rethink it sometimes... am I really already 32 weeks pregnant?! And in less than 8 weeks, this baby girl will join our crazy world?! And how will Ashton react? Will he be old enough to realize that his life is also changing? It really is nice to look back at the blog and see how much fun I had buying all the new baby things. Right now, I have only bought a few baby girl clothes. I need to go through all of Ashton's old things, pull them out and wash them to really assess what I will need shortly. Really, I guess I only need to pull out the pack n' play, the swing, and to buy some diapers. Probably some burp clothes too. Oh I remember the days of all the baby spit-up. Nice! Now I will be covered with Ashton goo AND baby spit-up. Oh the joys of motherhood!

Slowly but surely we are moving in!

The view from the top of the stairs... notice the new light fixture
The living room is coming along - minus the personal touches
A little dark but the corner will eventually be Ashton's play area
The den/Matt's office
Different view
The kitchen/dining room (new light fixture again) and new stove
New appliances!
Our bedroom... must larger than our last bedroom
Not sure of what to do with the cut-out... taking suggestions! Maybe a dresser with mirror?
The guest room which will eventually convert into Ashton's big boy room!
Ashton's current room/future baby room. Eventually I would like to put in a chair rail or border and paint the bottom 1/2 purple. We will eventually put a futon or move the guest bedroom into this room. Good luck to our visitors! Just make sure to pick up the baby when she cries!
