Ashton loves his sister!

Ashton surprised us by lovingly accepting his baby sister into our family. I was surprised to see him giving her kisses on her first day home!
Touching her hand!
Proud big brother!
I'm not sure if anything is more precious!
Poor Violet had Ashton snot all over her once he was done!

Do they look alike?

I wonder what she will look like when she grows up!!

Violet Rose is born!

Baby Girl Besmer was born a little over 2 weeks early with a little drama. Matt went to Washington DC for work and thankfully my parents were here "just in case." Well, little did we know the just in case would end up being a thank goodness! I started having some contractions on Saturday but not regular. We were running around doing tons of last minute chores before the baby was born and around 7pm the regular contractions started. By Sunday ~4am, they were less than 10 minutes apart so my Mom and I headed to the hospital. We go to the hospital and I was already 5cm dilated with my water intact which was a savior! I say savior because had my water broken, I would have progressed through labor quickly and Matt would have missed the birth. Fortunately, the baby tolerated the labor well, I stayed at 8cm for 4 hours, and my water stayed intact until Matt arrived at noon. After a few pushes, baby girl Besmer arrived at 1:52pm.
He arrived with an hour to spare!!
My Mom was able to cut the umbilical cord!
6 pounds, 9 ounces and 18 1/2 inches
Dad meets his baby girl and thanks her for waiting for him to get here before making her entrance!
Chunky in comparison to when Ashton was born
Ashton meets his baby sister. He loves to say "baby" and point to her.
Proud parents!
The Besmer Family!
She was so alert for the first couple of hours! After a day of debate, she is finally named Violet Rose!

Happy Easter!

We made a quick stop at Grandma Nina's house for Easter. Ashton scored his 1st Easter basket full of bubbles and bath toys! Ashton enjoyed bubbles with Nina and Jenn.
It's so funny how amazed Ashton gets with bubbles. It gets him every time!
Then it was off to Ma-mah and Papa Besmer's house! Ashton got his 2nd Easter basket and had his 1st Easter egg hunt. Good thing Ma-mah only hid 5 eggs. It was SO cold!
The plastic eggs were full of candy! Ashton quickly discovered the fun in shaking them up!
He was so proud when he found the eggs! It was so cute! Every time he found one, he would run and point out "ball." Too bad he couldn't figure out how to hold more than two eggs at a time!
Poor guy tried carrying 3 eggs at a time. Unfortunately he lost the candy is most of the eggs... he was still so full of candy he was running in circles by the end of the day even though he missed out on his afternoon nap!

Big boy room!

I was finally able to paint Ashton's big boy room. It's the smallest of all three but the baby room is a combo with the guest room. He doesn't need anything in his room anyways. Less to climb! We still need to go and get him a twin size bed, but this will do for now!
Ashton stared at the Curious George stickers for awhile. He is obsessed with monkeys and airplanes. I have ordered some airplane wall decals which will cover another wall! Can't wait for those to come in!
Ashton is still a "messy" sleeper, so I pull out the fold-out chair for him. He has done quite well with the transition. He still wakes up a couple of times in the night but it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. I have heard of horror stories of parents putting the kids back in bed hundreds of times (in one night)! Thankfully, Ashton stays in bed but will cry his little eyes out. That has only happened 2-3 times... with Mom of course. Matt and Nana Dee can get him to go down without a fight... so far!
