Memorial Day Weekend Glamping Trip

The large Besmer family wanted to go camping, so off we went to the beach with most of the extended B family. So, clearly with a fairly new baby, I was not up to camping but my awesome MIL rented a huge camper for the weekend! Let me tell you! This is the way to camp! So our camping trip became a glamping trip!

We left the camp site bright, overcast, and early to visit the ocean. Obviously it was still cold but it didn't prevent the kids from attacking the waves! Tim was the only smart one and got semi wet.

Papa Tom loves the play with the kids! I am so thankful he is around to help!

Is it weird that my kids are playing in the ocean in jackets?

Tim was a little more hesitant than the big kids

Run! That's cold water

Oops! Someone fell down

The last night, the kids HAD to go into the ocean. It was even cold for us, not in the water!

Think it's cold?!

Who doesn't love sunset lighting?! A big CHEESE from Tim!

Digging for sand crabs

Just hanging out

E got some good snuggling from Grandma...

... and Great Grandma

While Great Grandpa entertained the big kids!

Here he is reading Ashton's rifle book to him.

I think he was trying to understand what Tim is saying here

Attempted Photo Shoot

Ashton is a good big brother

She has definitely filled out her "skin suit." She is now getting rolls and eats every 2-3 hours!

She clearly did not want to be down!

And then every now and then, you get a smile!

So alert!

Love the cubby legs and little baby toes!
Somewhere between 6-7 weeks, it seems like Eliza has become much more alert and stays up a little more during the day. I've also noticed she seems to be opening up, not as squished up like she was in my stomach. I loved seeing her in her froggy position with her arms tucked up under her chin because it showed me what I think to be her fetal position. But who doesn't love a baby who is becoming more alert. She is starting to smile and will occasionally coo but it isn't like she's cooing to talk yet. She often coos when she is getting tired or is just up laying on my shoulder.

Soundly Sleeping

It doesn't happen often but every now and then, she actually sleeps in her bassinet. Most times I am just tired to make the four steps to the rocker to nurse her in the middle of the night so she ends up in bed with me. But we doesn't love a sweet sleeping baby?!

Eliza's Photo Shoot

While I really wanted a professional photo shoot of Eliza's first days, I was satisfied with a couple of DIY home photo sessions I did myself. If you received a baby announcement, it has some but no where near all of my favorites.

Can't forget about hairy backs!

And teeny tiny toes!

Big lips,

Her long fingers

Her squished up baby position. I imagine this is how she was in utero because I always felt her elbows poking me

Sleep smiles!

Watch Eliza Grow

Eliza is 1 month old. She doesn't do much, so not much to update as far as development goes. She had her 1 month check-up today and she is a whopping 8 pounds, 14 ounces and 21 inches. She has gained almost 2 pounds since birth. She sleeps most of the days, and nights. Not as much as I would want of course, but she does go for about 3 hour stretches. She is alert if she is awake but definitely prefers to snuggle mom and dad and sleep!

Sweet Eliza

I got her out of the swing tonight and I saw her feet and legs were balled up to her stomach just like she was still inside my stomach. It was so cute to see her all curled up. I wish I took a picture of it!

Tim-isms

He asks, "Can I pet the baby?" Translation: I want to touch her softly.
He asks everyone, "will you buy big balloons from the Dollar Store for me?"
He calls peanuts, "popcorn."

Of course I can't remember more right now. I guess it will just be updated as I remember them.
