Thanks Brooke!

Thanks to one of my old co-workers, Brooke, I have my first baby gift! I am the proud owner of a gently used Medela pump! I am so excited! If any of you have one of these out there, you know I have just saved a couple hundred dollars from this gift alone. It makes me excited to go out and buy something else. I can't believe I've gone 27 weeks and have yet to actually BUY something for this little kid. I'm sure soon enough I will feel like that's all our money goes to! Next up... furniture for the baby room!

27 weeks pregnant!

Well, here I am sitting in my last week of my 2nd trimester. Wow! Next week I'll enter into the 3rd trimester with only 12 weeks left. We still have not done anything to get ready for the next family addition. Other than go to Babies R Us to register and look at furniture, we have yet to actually go and do it. But we have designated July to be the month to get stuff together. We are making a trip up to Washington DC the 4th of July weekend for two purposes - 1) to go to Ikea and 2) to visit DC. Ikea has some very reasonably priced baby furniture so we are going to look at cribs and a dresser. Plus the "Baby Bargains" rated their cribs with an A for quality and sturdiness. And before the little tike comes along, we are going to do as many things we can do! So in addition, we are going to stay the night up in DC. I haven't been to DC to be a tourist since I was 7 or 8 years old. Hopefully we can go to the Cherry Tree festival with the kid next year! Hopefully the Ikea furniture works out because our "back-up" alternative is a $400 crib at Babies R Us. Ouch! That cost more than our own bed! And that doesn't include a mattress! If the crib and mattress works out at Ikea, we will spend ~$300 on both! So cross your fingers that we come back with some good sturdy furniture from Ikea!

Bummer!

Well, I looked all over yesterday for a flight to California without success. Thanks to the ever rising gas prices, the flight prices are ridiculous!! To fly into SLO, flights are over $550. Oh but you say to fly into LAX, yeah those flights are $450. Then rent a car - add $100, pay for gas - add another $100 plus add 3 hours each way! Well, to all my friends and family who would love to see me before the baby makes its appearance, as much as I would LOVE to come visit before the little one comes along, I just don't think it makes financial sense. Too bad we just aren't rich and I could do whatever I wanted!

26 weeks!

24 weeks...
26 weeks...
26 week - close up!

For all those waiting for the update... here is what my growing belly looks like.
No my belly button hasn't popped out yet - although it is definitely growing wider like a crater! It's huge! No my feet aren't swelling yet. No I don't have heartburn yet. I am still at the good point of the pregnancy. Looking pregnant but not yet huge. And the little critter is big enough so I can feel it move now. I can't tell if it's an arm or a leg, but it's definitely movement and not just the little kicks and punches. I'll try to have the camera ready for the day I can see a foot or hand poking through!

Weight gain

My weight gain to date is 14 pounds. It's hard to imagine that I am probably still going to gain another 10-15 pounds. That's double of what I have already gained now!!

25 weeks and counting

Well, I only have 3 more weeks of the "good" part of the pregnancy. Not much is going on. It was really hot yesterday and I did notice I was more sensitive to the heat. I bet the real heat will hit when I am the most heat sensitive... in the middle of August I'm sure! Keep checking the blog! I'll post 26 week belly pics next week!
