Road Trip - First Stop, Vegas

We had a couple days home from the hospital to pack before we headed out on our road trip of the year. We packed up Matt's truck full of camping gear and hit the road jack. First stop, Vegas! 

We loaded up at 0'dark thirty

But everyone was wide awake

And stayed awake for a long time!

After a few hours, they finally passed out

We had a pit stop at the largest thermometer

It really is a beautiful drive

We finally made it and ran right out to explore Las Vegas

Eliza's Hospitalization

Our vacation came to a quick end. Thankfully, we were already on our way home when we got a call that Eliza probably had to go to the doctor. Well, long story short. We ended up at the local children's hospital with a 4-day stay for IV antibiotics for cellulitis. Poor Eliza was quite traumatized.

Day 1 got us admitted

Poor girl. We flew in and went straight to the hospital

She woke up chipper despite her fevers

It definitely got worse before it got better, so we added a second antibiotic. Let's just say, every 4 and every 8 hour antibiotics are not fun.

But the second one worked!

Someone finally is ready to go home!

It had mostly cleared up before we left with our 10 day of oral antibiotics.

Parent Vacation in June

Earlier in the year, we were invited to go to a fundraiser. Not only was it a crab fest, yes I love my king crab legs but there was a silent auction. Let's just say, after plenty of free flowing alcohol, we walked away with a week vacation in Cabo San Lucas. It was so nice to get away sans the kids! My favorite was sleeping in and not having to be anywhere. We went on a couple of sailing trips, a snorkeling trip but it was too windy to see much, tequila tasting, and enjoyed the Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately we came home to a sick Eliza.

It was so nice to visit someplace new. Let's just say, I learned my Spanish is not as good as I once thought it to be

Our House Up-to-Date

Has it really been almost a year since I've updated my blog. Oh my, how life gets busy and things like blogs get neglected! I also have used my "fancy" camera less and less and my phone camera gets used more and more.

So, let's see...

My latest addition. We finally switched out a HUGE rug we've had since Virginia and found this lovely ombre blue wool rug that fits the space and color scheme. 

My entry way is still a work in progress but I found the perfect fitting rug to fit the space. I'm in love!

We've slowly added more landscaping to fit our Tucsan theme we have going in our backyard.

My favorite addition, rose bushes!

Tim's room is painted a fun, yellow called Copacabana. I painted and stained his dresser. I am absolutely in love with his room.

We added cement on the side yards and I'm so glad we got to put their handprints into the ground. LOVE LOVE LOVE

The small side cement addition makes bringing the garbage cans in so much easier.

The whole reason for our side yard getting into shape. Hunter Besmer came home in August. Let's just say, he's quite the handful but Ashton is in love. He is 1/2 chocolate/brown lab and 1/2 Boxer.

Repurposed Furniture

 My parents gave us some furniture they had housed in their garage for years. Some worked out, some didn't. But I decided to give them a face lift. The bookcase was used as storage in our garage at our old house! Matt has had that since college!

 Simple spray paint to update some brass hardware!

 I did prime everything and then used a glossy paint that is used for trim for the grey. The white was reused from our old kitchen cabinets!

 The bookshelf now houses Ashton's stuff! We also spray painted the lamp shade to match!

 I was able to salvage some dresser drawers even if the dresser itself was too old. A little paint and caster wheels makes a great storage for out of season clothes!

Oh how I wish you could have seen the before but isn't it a beauty in the girls room??
