Let there be color

We are slowing doing a few updates on our house. If you can't tell from the before and after pictures, we added shingles on the windows. It makes a big difference. Tomorrow (if the weather permits), we are going to add a brick border around the bushes, plants some flowers, and add some mulch. We still have lots lots more to do!! In the planning is a backyard fence, a deck, the kitchen counters, adding a dishwasher, redoing the half bath... and that's not even counting what we need to do for the baby room! We are going to use our "closet room" as the baby's room. We'll see what we can squish all in that tiny little room. Well, really all the baby will need is a crib and a changing table. I can kick Matt portion of the closet into his designated closet which houses nothing! So the baby will have some closet space as well. A lot more housing updates to come!

Bring it on!

I thought the day would turn out to be dark and gray as the rest of the week, especially since we started out the day with FOG! It reminded me of the good ol' days in Fresno, but it wouldn't compete with the Central Valley fog. Thought I would share a bit of my commute into work with the rest of my dearest family and friends. Like my tunnel commute?? But by the time I left for work, the fog and clouds had vanished and the sun came out to play!
Once Matt got home from work, Parker and I were anxious to enjoy the sunny day. We took Parker for a walk at Mariners Park. It's his favorite trail mainly because it has a lake for his swims. As you can tell, he really enjoys his walks and swims. I took pictures of him jumping into the water. That's my favorite park of him swimming. He takes these leaping bounds into the water before swimming.
And Matt couldn't resist taking a picture of my growing baby bump in the car. It is growing. It doesn't look that big when I am standing but you can see I am growing! I'll update belly pictures on Sunday, the official 16 week mark!

Gray skies

I don't know how many days in a row, but this is what our weather has looked like. Actually, this is better because since Friday it's been either raining or drizzle, but definitely this GRAY! You don't realize how much you need the sun until you experience it's absence. Even Parker looks like he doesn't enjoy being outside! But today was the first day it wasn't wet and it was fairly warm (mid 50s)... so I sucked it up and went for a run. Unfortunately, my pregnant bladder decided it was full right as I started running and the further I got the worse it felt. Nothing like the urge to go pee... especially when you are pregnant! I know... TMI!! Luckily, I have a coworker friend who lives close to work, so I took a detour and crashed their home for a potty break. Thank goodness for them! So... 15 weeks and still running. I'm hoping I can make it to 28 weeks but we'll see. My belly is starting to get really pudgy so I'll have to take updated pictures at 16 weeks. Look forward to those!

15 weeks!

Wow! I'm 15 weeks pregnant today! It seemed like the 1st ten weeks went by painfully slow. Mainly because I worried so much that I might miscarry. But now that I've past those 10 weeks, it seems like the weeks keep flying by. And I think the next 5 weeks will fly by because in 5 weeks we go to Europe!

And while no one in my family thinks I look pudgy yet, everyone at work can surely tell! I guess I just feel like I've eaten a big meal and my belly won't suck back in. But people I don't know well, I mean I don't even know their name, will say... look at your belly! Are you gaining weight? One of these days I'm just going to say... NO I'm just getting fat, but thanks for noticing! Well, I am 15 weeks and busting out of my current pants, so I guess it is fine. But geez... at least know me a little better before you comment on my pudginess!

April showers, May flowers

It seems like it has rained off and on all day for the last 2 days. Needless to say, Parker and I have been cooped up in the house relaxing and taking naps! Enjoy it while it lasts right?

It was also one year ago (well, it will be April 20th) that we packed up the Saturn and moved from Indianapolis to Newport News. I can't believe how much we have done in the last year. Buying a home, moving, getting a new job, getting a permanent job, getting married, buying a new car, getting pregnant... wow! Well, in the next year, I think only one big life event will be happening!

14 week belly pictures

Compare the belly! Almost normal to pudgy. Hard to imagine my belly is going to stretch and grow much much more!

Maternity clothes shopping

Well, after bragging for the last few days that I can still fit into my own clothes... I bit the bullet and went to buy some maternity pants. The shirts were huge and made me definitely look bigger/pregnant, so I declined to buy those for now. I'm not sure if I really needed the pants but it sure would make me more comfortable. I had to unbutton my FAT pants for most of the day today. Ahhh! So much for those fat pants... they were cutting into my stomach! I think I still have 4 pairs (5 including the ones I wore today unbuttoned)! Plus, I get more use out of them since I'll only use them everyday for the next 6 months!

My appetite is voracious so I think the weight gain is going up substantially this week. I'm going to have to take updated belly pictures so you can see the pudgy Aleyna! I know everyone is waiting for the day to come when I get really FAT!
