Our crib has arrived!
Yeah! The crib made it before the baby came! Now all I have to do is beg and plead Matt to put it together! Our baby room is almost done! Can you believe it?! With 2 weeks to go, our baby room may very well get done before Baby Besmer arrives! I'm sure everyone else is getting anxious for me that the room is not yet complete but Matt's attitude has rubbed off on me. Now if I can just convince him that the crib needs to be assembled ASAP!

38 weeks
Not much continues to go on here. My office had a baby shower for me! Thanks to the CHKD dietitians! I scored some cute outfits! As for me, I don't think the baby is coming anytime early. I am still short of breath at times, so the baby hasn't dropped significantly to compress my bladder. Everyone tells me, "You'll know when your baby has dropped." Well, I don't really know. So I think Baby Besmer enjoys staying in my stomach. I don't mind it either. I'm not sure we'll ever be ready, so when he or she comes, I guess we'll be ready. On the agenda today is to install the car seat and pack my bags. Not sure if it's going to get done, but I guess it should get done soon! Our crib has been shipped, so hopefully it comes in the next couple of days so Matt can complete the baby room. Our glider is up and ready. We just need to find it's final resting place in our tiny baby room.

Happy Birthday to me!
Oh my! I'm 30 years old today! The end of a decade has come and I will start out the next decade as a soon-to-be Mom. Unfortunately, I won't be able to celebrate in good ol' fashion. I'll just enjoy one glass of wine tonight!

37 weeks
37 weeks with 3 weeks to go! Plus I have reached a point where I am considered full-term so the baby can come any day now. But I really don't feel like it's coming any time soon. I don't think the baby has really dropped yet because it is still affecting my ability to breathe which is really annoying. My bladder still appreciates being able to hold a good amount of fluid, but I'm sure soon I will be running to the bathroom to be disappointed when a tiny amount of pee trickles out.

Tropical Storm Hanna
We have experienced our first "storm" as east coasters. Tropical Storm Hanna came through Hampton Roads (the area in Virginia that we live) today. However, it was thankfully not anywhere as strong as they predicted and it moved through quickly. I went into work for my last weekend call... yeah! The winds were pretty strong on the way in but had died down by the time I was heading home. The rain was not even as hard as a regular storm. So no big change in air pressures enough to send me into an early labor!

"37" week visit
I had my "37" week visit today. Everything is still going well. I am now measuring 35 cm, so just a little smaller than my official 36 1/2 weeks gestation. So that is good news! I am actually catching up in size which makes me feel a little better about not getting the ultrasound I wanted. The heart rate was nice, strong, and loud at ~150s. I still have a little edema (swelling in my lower extremities) but nothing that is classified as horrible. I still see bones in my toes. I am Group B Strep positive which means I will have to receive IV antibiotics 4 hours before the delivery. My doc and I decided to not get my cervix checked until 38-39 weeks. I've heard that it can stimulate early labor, so I've decided to not get that done. Plus, you have the disappointment of hearing... you are 0% effaced (that means thinning of your cervix). Gee thanks! Tell me something I didn't know. But, I heard 3 times today that "I've dropped." Other than our weekly birthing class, we are just getting ready for the arrival of Baby Besmer. We are just going to purchase a few small items and we should be ready!
